Job Description

Provides Manufacturing Engineering support to the team installing aircraft modifications on the B-2 "Stealth" Bomber. Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine, equipment, tool, jig, and fixture design to production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations. Research legacy engineering and production records to find root causes to engineering issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are required to develop and adapt processes for production and provide guidance to experienced mechanics.

  • Must demonstrate initiative, perform well in a team environment, and have strong ability to solve complex technical problems.

  • Must have an active DoD secret security clearance with ability to meet eligibility requirements for additional clearances to continue employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the design, development, modification or application of equipment, tools, jigs, fixtures and other devices used by aircraft mechanics in an aircraft production or modification environment.

  • Experience with CATIA V5 3-D solid modeling.

  • Experience in aircraft component and/or tooling fabrication and machining processes.

  • Experience as a manufacturing engineer supporting aircraft modifications.
